Draw Poker Rules
Draw Poker is one of the most commonly known games in the world. The point of the game is to have the best five-card hand using these hands in order of strongest to weakest.
Royal Flush: A-K-Q-J-10, all same suit
Straight Flush: any five consecutive cards, all same suit
Four-of-a-Kind: four cards, same value (eg. four 7's)
Full House: Three-of-a-Kind and a Pair
Flush: any five cards of the same suit
Straight: any five consecutive cards
Three-of-a-Kind: three cards, same value
Two Pair: two sets of different pairs (eg. two 4's & two 6's)
Pair: Two cards of same value
High card: the highest valued card in your hand of no pairs, straights, flush, ect.....
*Suits are ranked equally*
The game starts by determining a dealer, flipping for high card works well.
The deal rotates around to the left (Who is dealing next, aswell as the direction the cards are dealt)
NEXT there is a ANTE you must put in to get cards. It is a small fee to play. Everyones money goes in the center of table, the "pot" and who ever wins the hand recieves it, along with all other bets
After everyone who wishes to play ante's up, the dealer deals one card at a time face down to his left around the table until everyone recives 5 cards.
Everyone picks up there cards, and looks at there cards (theyre secret)
The player to the left of the dealer opens the betting by either Betting, passing or folding
- Bet, anyone who wants to keep playing must at least match this bet
- pass, he doesnt wish to bet yet, trying to get free cards or useing a slowplay strategy
- fold, cards are not good enough to play
After the first person bets, the next player(s) have the ability to call or raise or fold
- Call, match the bet of the previous player(s)
- raise, not only call the last bet, but also increase it
- fold, to throw your cards away, not good enough to call
this continues until the betting has gone around to the dealer, and the dealer is the last person allowed to raise the bet, after that all actions are either call or fold
NOW it is time to discard, going to the left of the dealer in succession, each player discards as many or as little cards as they want in hopes of building a better hand.
Now another betting round happens useing same pattern as before, after the dealer has last action, unless he raises (then it goes around again for calls and folds) it is time to show your hand, the best five card poker hand wins the pot. Split pots are when 2 or more players hold the same exact hand
(e.g. Both players show a straight 4-5-6-7-8) then each of them get 1/2 the pot. Suits are same value so they are not a issue in determining pot winner.
