New Stats Show Poker Stars Is No. 1

Written by Tom Somach in Poker News

Official statistics by a website that tracks Internet poker traffic shows that currently, www.pokerstars.com is by far the most popular online poker room in the world.

E-Poker Traffic (www.epokertraffic.com), which tracks, records and graphs statistics from online poker rooms all over the world, has consistently shown statistics over the past week that reveal Poker Stars is the No. 1 online poker room in the world, and it’s not even close.

E-Poker Traffic use the statistics provided by the online poker rooms to monitor how many total players are playing at each online poker room at any given time.

The statistics are updated frequently.

All well-known online poker rooms are monitored by E-Poker Traffic, with the exception of Party Poker (www.partypoker.com), which no longer makes that information available on its website, as other online poker rooms do.

Party Poker for years had been the most popular online poker room in the world, but when it decided last year to ban poker players from the United States, it lost much of its business.

Its percentage of overall worldwide market share declined significantly, and Party Poker is now an also-ran in the online poker rooms wars.

According to Wednesday evening’s statistics on E-Poker Traffic, which were typical of the past week’s statistics, on Wednesday evening at about 9:30 pm Eastern Time in the USA a whopping 42% of all people worldwide playing online poker at that time were playing at Poker Stars.

The second-most popular online poker room in the world at that moment was Ultimate Bet (www.ultimatebet.com), where 11% of all people worldwide playing online poker were playing, the statistics reveal.

The third-most popular online poker room in the world at that moment was Full Tilt Poker (www.fulltiltpoker.com), where 10% of all people worldwide playing Internet poker were playing, the stats show.

The fourth-most popular online poker room in the world at that moment was Absolute Poker (www.absolutepoker.com), where 8% of all people worldwide playing cyber-poker were playing, the statistics say.

Tied for fifth-place were Raw Poker (www.rawpoker.com), Doyle’s Room (www.doylesroom.com) and Poker Room (www.pokerroom.com), each with 4%, according to the statistics.

The eighth-most popular online poker room in the world was Bodog (www.bodog.com), with 3% of all worldwide online poker players, the stats show.

Tied for ninth-most popular online poker room in the world were Titan Poker (www.titanpoker.com), Poker.com (www.poker.com), Paradise Poker (www.paradisepoker.com) and Pacific Poker (www.pacificpoker.com), each with 2%, the statistics reveal.

Numerous other online poker rooms registered 1% of worldwide online poker room usage, or less.
