‘Mad Russian’ Among Latest WSOP Winners

Action continues at the 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, as WSOP Events #6-10 are concluded.
WSOP Event #6, a $1,500 buy-in, limit Texas hold ‘em tournament, had 910 entrants and a total prize pool of $1,365,000.
The tourney was won by=A0Gary Styczynski, who earned $280,715 for his winning effort.
Finishing in second place was Gumroyan Varouzhan, who took home $177,627. WSOP Event #7 was a $5,000 buy-in, pot-limit Omaha tournament with rebuys, featuring 145 particIpants and a total prize pool of $2,891,000.
The winner was Burt Boutin of Las Vegas, Nev., USA, who earned $825,956.
Finishing second was Erik Cajelais of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, who took home $483,755.
Well-known poker “names” who finished high in the money were David “Devilfish” Ulliot of Hull, England, who finished third and garnered $332,582; Indonesia native John Juanda of Marina Del Rey, Calif., USA, who placed seventh and earned $107,196; and Costa Rica native Humberto Brenes of Miami Lakes, Fla., USA, who ended up in eighth place and got $79,710.
WSOP Event #8 was a $1,000 buy-in, no-limit Texas hold ‘em tournament with rebuys, featuring 844 entrants and a total prize pool of $2,533,062.
The winner was Michael Chu of Los Angeles, Calif., USA, who won $585,774. Finishing second was Tuan “Tommy” Vu of Las Vegas, who took home $364,761. WSOP Event #9 was a $1,500 buy-in, Omaha eight-or-better tourney with 690 participants and a total prize pool of $941,850.
The winner was of Alex “The Mad Russian” Kravchenko of Moscow, Russia, who earned $228,466.
Coming in second was Bryan Devonshire of Henderson, Nev., USA, who took home $140,336.
WSOP Event #10 was a $2,000 buy-in, no-limit Texas hold ‘em tournament with 1,531 entrants and a total prize pool of $2,786,420.
The winner was William Durkee V of Chicago, Ill, USA, who took home a whopping $566,916 for his big win.
The runnerup was Todd Terry of Hoboken, N.J., USA, who earned $353,875.
