Doyle “Texas Dolly” Brunson, probably the best-known poker player in the world, is to be the keynote speaker for the annual European convention of the Casino Affiliates Program (CAP) in Spain in October, CAP has announced.
The three-day event, called CAP Euro, is scheduled for Barcelona, Spain, for Oct. 5-7, 2007, and Brunson is to speak on the first day of the get-together, it was announced.
According to a CAP news release, “Doyle will be talking about his extensive experiences in poker and how the poker industry has evolved over the five decades he has been playing.”
Brunson will also be using the occasion to make a buck.
The online poker room he shills, Doyle’s Room (www.doylesroom.com), is relaunching its website next month with a new look and a refocus on the European market, and CAP Euro will be a perfect platform for him to publicize the room.
The news release even quotes Brunson as saying as much: “When CAP Euro invited me to Barcelona to be their keynote speaker, I accepted as it complements our relaunch strategy. Reaching out to so many affiliates like this is the perfect way to generate awareness within Europe of the new look DoylesRoom.com.”
Brunson will be seeing a lot of Europe in the coming weeks.
Next month, he is scheduled to be in London, England, for the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE), a three-event tournament that will award WSOP gold bracelets for the first time for poker prowess outside the U.S.
