‘Diva’ Likes Chili

Liz “Poker Diva” Lieu is the latest professional poker player to align with an online poker room.

The 33-year-old Vietnamese native, who now resides in Los Angeles, recently signed an exclusive endorsement deal with Chili Poker (www.chilipoker.com.)

In addition to shilling the online poker room, she also answers poker questions on the Chili Poker website and gives general poker-playing advice.

In her brief professional career, which began in 2005, Lieu has already won almost $600,000 in poker tournament earnings.

Her first big win was at the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP), where she came in fifth in a $1,500 buy-in, no-limit Texas hold ‘em tournament and won $169,000.

At that same WSOP, she also finished 12th in a $5,000 buy-in, no-limit Texas hold ‘em tourney and won $20,000, and 72nd in a $3,000 buy-in, no-limit Texas hold ‘em tourney and won $5,000.

In addition, she finished in the money at two WSOP events this year.

She has also won or moneyed in numerous World Poker Tour (WPT) events.

So what kind of poker advice will Lieu be dispensing?

Despite being Vietnamese, her wisdom sounds more like something from a Chinese fortune cookie.

On the Chili Poker website, under the heading “10 Tips to Avoid Losing,” Tip #2 from Lieu is: “Set aside a certain amount of playing time and be careful not to go over your self-imposed limit. This may also help you to improve the quality of your family life.”

Really?

It seems that if the quality of someone’s family life is suffering because of poker, perhaps that person shouldn’t be playing at all.
