WSOP Seat Up
Written by Tom Somach in Poker NewsA seat at the main event of the upcoming 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas is the grand prize at a celebrity poker tournament set for this weekend in Southern California.
The Celebrity Poker Championships are scheduled to be held on Sunday, February 10, 2008, at the Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood, California, outside Los Angeles.
The event is to be hosted by the California State Firefighters Association, for the benefit of the families of California firefighters who were injured or killed in the line of duty, while battling the wildfires that struck Southern California last year.
According to event organizers, among the celebrities confirmed for the event are television stars Joshua Malina of “The West Wing,” Brian Krause of “Charmed” and Joseph Mascolo of “Days of our Lives.”
In addition to the celebrity poker tournament, which will be a 250-person, $450-buy-in, no-limit Texas hold ‘em tourney, the festivities are to also include a celebrity cocktail reception, an auction and a ceremony honoring Southern California firefighters.
The tourney’s top prize, a seat into next summer’s WSOP main event, is valued at $10,000.
