Sexton Flacks Room
Written by Tom Somach in Poker NewsPoker personality Mike Sexton has been hired to be a paid flack for the National League of Poker (NLOP), a so-called “legal” online poker room that is based in suburban Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
The room, at www.nlop.com, announced in a news release that Sexton has signed an exclusive contract to be the “featured spokesman for its online presence.”
Sexton is a professional poker player and has hosted various poker shows on television.
“I liked the idea right away, but as I researched them more closely, I really loved the gameplay design, tournament structures and social networking aspects of the site,” Sexton said in the release about joining NLOP.
“This is much more than an online poker room, it is a vibrant poker community,” he added.
“Mike Sexton is the person that the NLOP always wanted as a representative,” said Michael Clebnik, the chief executive officer of NLOP, in the relsease.
“He is well respected within the poker community,” Clebnik added. “His agreement validates our position in this new and developing marketplace and we are thrilled to have him on our team.”
According to the news release, Sexton’s role at NLOP will be to have, “broad, hands-on involvement with the site, including playing online with members, consulting on tournaments, taking part in its new community area and representing the NLOP in the offline poker community.”
NLOP, which was profiled in a previous PokerHelper.com article, claims it is legal in the U.S. because players can win money playing poker without risk.
