Jones New CEO
Written by Tom Somach in Poker NewsLee Jones, an executive host with the European Poker Tour (EPT) for the past year, has resigned to become chief executive officer of Card Runners.
Card Runners (www.cardrunners.com) is a website that offers instructional videos about poker for a fee.
According to a news release on the Card Runners website, Jones will be “intimately involved every single day with ensuring that Card Runners videos remain innovative and creative, as well as continuing to meet the rising standards of quality seen industry-wide.”
In addition, he will be in charge of “operational and business matters, including a complete review of the company and its services,” the news release said.
While with the EPT, Jones organized poker events and served as a broadcaster on EPT Webcasts.
Before joining the EPT last year, Jones worked for online poker room Poker Stars (www.pokerstars.com) as its poker room manager.
An American, he had to leave the U.S. and move to Europe to take the EPT job.
According to published reports, a desire to return to the U.S. fueled his decision to quit the EPT and helm Card Runners.
Card Runners makes available for downloading a number of instructional videos about all aspects of poker, for a charge.
It lacks big-times names from the pro poker world, however, instructing on the videos.
Instead, names few have heard of, such as Taylor Caby, Andrew Wiggins, Brian Townsend, Brian Hastings, Mike Schneider, Cole South and Eric Liu, do the teaching.
