Written by Tom Somach in Poker NewsAn Idaho college will be offering two classes this fall about poker.
According to officials at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho, USA, the poker classes will be offered as part of the college’s Community Education program, which is open to the general public.
The first class, Beginning Poker: Texas Hold ‘em, will begin on September 30, 2008, and run through October 14, 2008.
The second class, Intermediate Poker Strategy, will begin on October 21, 2008, and run through November 1, 2008.
Each class costs $50 per student, or $85 for both.
Both classes will be taught by Candida Mumford, who is coordinator of student disability services at the college.
She is also a part-time poker player and has participated in the World Series of Poker.
“Poker is my passion,” she said. “My second job. I’m a social worker by day and a poker player by night.”
She describes the upcoming poker courses thusly: “The first class will teach the basics. The second class will include strategy.”
