No More, No Less
Written by Tom Somach in Poker NewsThe 2008 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) Main Event is no more popular than the 2007 WSOPE Main Event was.
But it’s no less popular, either.
In fact, it’s popularity is exactly equal.
According to official figures, a total of 362 people entered the Main Event of the 2008 WSOPE, currently underway at the Empire Casino in London, England.
A total of 362 people also entered the Main Event of the 2007 WSOPE.
As it was last year, the WSOPE Main Event is a no-limit Texas hold ‘em tournament with a buy-in of 10,000 British pounds, about $20,000.
With 362 entrants each ponying up 10,000 pounds, the total prize pool for the 2008 WSOPE Main Event will be the same as it was for the 2007 WSOPE Main Event–3.6 million pounds, about $7.2 million.
The winner of the 2007 WSOPE Main Event was 18-year-old Annette Obrestad of Norway.
For the victory, she earned about a million pounds, or about $2 million.
