Written by Tom Somach in Poker NewsPeter Eastgate recently earned over $9 million by winning the Main Event of the 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas.
But that’s just small potatoes for the 22-year-old, multi-millionaire college dropout from Denmark who is the youngest person ever to win a WSOP Main Event.
He hopes to make more than that–much more–from endorsements and personal appearances, now that he’s the WSOP champ.
In order to reach that new goal, Eastgate has signed on with Poker Royalty, a Las Vegas-based talent management firm that handles poker celebrities, the firm announced.
According to a spokesman for the firm, Poker Royalty will act as Eastgate’s worldwide management and marketing representation across all major platforms, including media, sponsorship, licensing, commercial endorsements and appearances.
“I believe the team at Poker Royalty is best suited to help me navigate through the duties and opportunities that arise as the reigning World Series of Poker champion,” Eastgate said in a press release issued by the firm. “They represent the biggest names in poker and I’m honored to have them working on my behalf.”
Jim Erwood, Poker Royalty’s director of European operations, said in the release: “Peter is the epitome of the young, intelligent and fearless online poker professional whose game has translated fantastically to the world of live tournament poker. It is a very unique opportunity for us, because he’s a very marketable 22-year-old international player with $9 million in the bank. Peter can afford to be very selective with the endorsement relationships he chooses and align himself with opportunities that suit him perfectly.”
