Allen Wins Bayou
Written by Tom Somach in Poker NewsJustin “Lockdown Tex” Allen is the winner of the 2008 Winter Bayou Poker Challenge Championship Event, a poker tournament held at Harrah’s casino in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
The three-day event was a no-limit Texas hold ‘em tourney that had a buy-in of $5,150 and a total prize pool of $488,550.
There were 103 entrants and cash prizes were paid out to the Top 18 finishers.
For the victory, Allen, 21, from Dallas, Texas, USA, earned $158,290, a championship gold ring and free entry into the $10,000 buy-in Main Event of the 2009 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Finishing in second place in the 2008 Winter Bayou Poker Challenge Championship Event was Larry Price of Gretna, Louisiana, USA.
Coming in third was Matt “Cub” Culberson of New Orleans.
Taking fourth was Wil Payne of Fort Worth, Texas, USA.
Finishing fifth was Phil Sparta Jr. of Fairfax, Virginia, USA.
Sixth was Jeremy Gaubert of Lockport, Louisiana, USA.
In seventh was Jake Bazeley of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.
Coming in eighth was Justin Jones of Rockdale, Texas, USA.
