Online poker room PKR (www.pkr.com) has won the Academy Award of Internet poker.

According to industry magazine Gambling Online, the room has been awarded the mag’s prestigious “Best Software Award” in the online poker room category.

The annual award is voted on by readers of the magazine, and all online poker rooms are eligible.

The award is significant, the magazine said, because its “Best Software Award” is the only poker software award that is decided by a public vote.

PKR marketing manager Erika Schwartz said of the award: “We’re delighted that our software has been recognized by Gambling Online readers. It’s always especially pleasing to win awards that are voted for by customers.”

PKR is based in the United Kingdom.

The site also offers online blackjack.

Last year’s winner of Gambling Online’s “Best Software Award” in the poker room category was Ladrokes Poker (www.ladbrokes.com.)
