www.philhellmuth.com, egomaniacal poker pro Phil “Poker Brat” Hellmuth
Jr. has detailed how he overcame the “stress” of being a celebrity.
“I was feeling super stressed out and super burned out by the dual
pressures of trying to be one of the greatest poker players in history
and dealing with the fame factor that drives so many celebs over the
edge,” Hellmuth wrote. “I was starting to melt down and it was affecting
my health a little bit and I couldn’t figure out why.”

pro to sign on with online poker room Poker Stars (www.pokerstars.com)
as a paid flack.
The room announced that Lodden has joined Poker Stars’ as a so-called
Team Poker Stars Pro, which is what the room calls its hired shills.

A group of South Korean businessmen has gained permission to open a
poker club in the Phillipines, right next to a church that is also an
archbishop’s residence.
According to media reports, a government permit to operate the poker
club, which will be located in Mandaluyong City and called the Big Ace
Poker Club, was granted after local Catholic Church officials declined
to raise objections about the club.

So what does poker pro Annie Duke really think about Dennis Rodman, her
fellow celebrity contestant on the Donald Trump-hosted, NBC reality TV
show “Celebrity Apprentice” that airs every Sunday night in the USA?
After she and Rodman, a former pro basketball player in the NBA, both
made it through Week #4 of the program last Sunday without being kicked
off the show, as a different celeb is each week, Duke ripped Rodman on
her blog at www.annieduke.com.

A charity poker tournament is to be held at the Club Cal-Neva casino in
Reno, Nevada, USA, on Saturday, April 4, 2009, to benefit the Reno
Police Department.
According to event organizers, the event will be a no-limit Texas hold
‘em tourney and will specifically raise funds for the Reno Police
Department’s Honor Guard.

The 2009 Foxwoods Poker Classic (FPC), one of the most prestigious poker
tournaments in the USA, got underway on Monday, March 23, 2009, at the
Indian-run Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, USA.
The FPC consists of 14 different events, culminating with the
Championship Event, a no-limit Texas hold ‘em tourney with a buy-in of
$10,000 that runs from April 3 through April 8, 2009.

The seventh annual Irish Classic Poker Festival will be held at the
Macau Sporting Club in Cork, Ireland, from August 10-16, 2009, event
organizers announced.
The festival is a series of 10 poker tournaments, culminating in a Main
Event which will be a no-limit Texas hold ‘em with a buy-in of $1,100
and a total prize pool in excess of $100,000.

A charity poker tournament hosted by poker pro Jennifer Harman last week
in Reno, Nevada, USA, the so-called “Biggest Little City in America,”
raised $111,000 for the National Kidney Foundation.
According to tournament organizers, more than 300 entrants participated
in the tourney, which featured no-limit Texas hold ‘em.

Twenty-five people have been arrested in Malaysia for playing poker.
According to media reports, police in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian
capital, raided a condominium there Saturday afternoon and broke up an
illegal poker tournament.

Professional poker player Layne Flack caused some flak Friday when he
was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, for drunken driving.
According to media reports, Flack was driving home from a party late
Friday night when he was pulled over by Las Vegas police, arrested and
charged with drunken driving, speeding and failure to yield to an
emergency vehicle.
