In a bizarre–what else is new?–posting on his blog at www.philhellmuth.com, egomaniacal poker pro Phil “Poker Brat” Hellmuth Jr. has detailed how he overcame the “stress” of being a celebrity.

“I was feeling super stressed out and super burned out by the dual pressures of trying to be one of the greatest poker players in history and dealing with the fame factor that drives so many celebs over the edge,” Hellmuth wrote. “I was starting to melt down and it was affecting my health a little bit and I couldn’t figure out why.” (more…)

A group of South Korean businessmen has gained permission to open a poker club in the Phillipines, right next to a church that is also an archbishop’s residence.

According to media reports, a government permit to operate the poker club, which will be located in Mandaluyong City and called the Big Ace Poker Club, was granted after local Catholic Church officials declined to raise objections about the club. (more…)
