2 Bucks Gets You In
Written by Tom Somach in Poker NewsLooking to enter the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, but don’t want to pay the $10,000 buy-in or entry fee?
Look no further–it’s online poker room Poker Stars (www.pokerstars.com) to the rescue!
In a mass e-mail sent out this week to its customers, Poker Stars announced that it will hold a satellite or qualifying tournament on June 14, 2009, for the WSOP Main Event, which begins on July 3, 2009, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
The fee to enter the online satellite–called the Poker Stars World Series Mega Main Event Qualifier–is $370.
If you’re one of the 200 winners of the satellite–and there could be more–you’ll be awarded with a WSOP package worth $12,000.
That’ll be enough to cover the WSOP Main Event buy-in and expenses.
And if $370 is still too rich for your blood, you can enter a satellite to get into the satellite.
The Poker Stars satellite qualifiers can be entered for as little as $2.20.
Win one of those and you’ve got free entry into the Mega Satellite.
Information about the qualifiers is also available at the Poker Stars website.
In 2003, poker icon Chris Moneymaker won a Poker Stars WSOP online satellite tourney that had a $39 buy-in, and earned a free seat into that year’s WSOP Main Event.
He then won the Main Event, sparking a worldwide poker boom.
