So hot, in fact, he might melt.
For the third time at the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas there is a double-winner.
Jeffrey “The Iceman” Lisandro of Salerno, Italy, who won WSOP Event #16 earlier this month, has now won WSOP Event #37.
It’s his third career WSOP championship gold bracelet, having also won one in 2007.
Event #37 was a seven-card stud hi-lo tournament that had a buy-in of $10,000 and a prize pool of about $1.5 million.
There were 164 entrants and 16 payouts. For the victory, Lisandro earned $431,656. Runnerup Farzad Rouhani of Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA, snagged $266,804.
Third-place finisher Mike Wattel of Phoenix, Arizona, USA, collected $176,605.
Perennial fan favorite Doyle “Texas Dolly” Brunson, attempting to win his 11th career WSOP bracelet and tie Phil “Poker Brat” Hellmuth Jr. for the No. 1 spot on the all-time WSOP bracelet list, finished the tournament in seventh place.
Top pros Perry Friedman and Scotty Nguyen finished 10th and 11th, respectively.
Lisandro is the third poker player to win a pair of gold bracelets at the 2009 WSOP.
Earlier, Brock Parker and Phil “Poison” Ivey each won two bracelets.
Lisandro, according to tournament records, has earned almost $4 million in his life playing poker tourneys in the WSOP and elsewhere.
