Europe and the Americas, has been won by Team Europe.
The competition was an unofficial part of the third annual World Series
of Poker Europe (WSOPE), which is underway in London, England.

It was close but no cigar–or gold bracelet–for American poker pro
Howard “The Professor” Lederer at the World Series of Poker Europe
(WSOPE) in London, England, Friday, as he came in second in Event #3 to
Finnish pro Jani Vilmunen.
Lederer, who despite being a top pro is best known for being the brother
of top female pro Annie Duke, was attempting to win his first-ever WSOPE
bracelet (he’s won two World Series of Poker or WSOP bracelets).

A Las Vegas jack-of-all-trades who won a championship gold bracelet at
the 1989 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has died.
According to media reports, Bob Stupak, 67, who was involved in
everything from poker to politics, died Friday in Las Vegas, Nevada,
USA, of leukemia.

The latest edition of the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) has
concluded, with Yevgeniy “Jovial Gent” Timoshenko winning the WCOOP Main
Event.
The WCOOP is a two-week, 45-tournament poker competition held online
multiple times a year by Internet poker room Poker Stars
(www.pokerstars.com), with the 45th and final tourney being the Main
Event and the most lucrative.

The third annual World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) officially got
underway Friday in London, England, with the start of the first of four
official WSOPE tournaments.
Event #1 kicked off the action and is a no-limit Texas hold ‘em
tournament with a buy-in of 1,000 British pounds, or about 1,655 U.S.
dollars.

Just days after announcing she was leaving her position as a paid flack
for online poker room Poker Stars (www.pokerstars.com), poker pro
Isabelle “No Mercy” Mercier announced she has been hired as a paid flack
for Poker Stars competitor Bet Click Poker (www.betclickpoker.com).
The Bet Click brand up until now has been known primarily for online
sports wagering–the sports betting site is at www.betclick.com–but now
is expanding into online poker.

According to media reports, the gender-bending tournament was held
Saturday at the Borgata hotel and casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey,

month, one voter has already made his vote public.
Earlier this month, the Poker Hall of Fame, which is located inside the
Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, announced nine
finalists for 2009 induction: Barry Greenstein, Dan Harrington, Phil
“Poison”? Ivey, Tom McEvoy, Men “The Master”? Nguyen, Scotty Nguyen,
Daniel “Kid Poker”? Negreanu, Erik Seidel and Mike Sexton.

Event 26 years ago, will be the special guest celebrity at a charity
poker tournament later this week in Pahrump, Nevada, USA, the town
formerly known as Stateline, Nevada, USA.
The charity tourney is to benefit the Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las
Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Feeding off the publicity the American reality TV show “Celebrity
Apprentice” garnered last spring by featuring a professional poker
player as a contestant, another American reality TV show has announced
it is going to feature two poker pros.
Poker pro Annie Duke appeared on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” earlier
this year and now two more female poker pros, Tiffany Michelle and Maria
Ho, are to appear on the CBS reality show “The Amazing Race,” CBS
announced this week.

The $40,000 buy-in, no-limit Texas hold ‘em tournament that was held at
the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) and was the most expensive WSOP
tourney ever will not be repeated at the 2010 WSOP, the WSOP announced.
The $40K buy-in tourney was originally announced as a special, one-time
event to commemorate the ‘09 WSOP, which was the 40th annual WSOP.

The Poker Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, announced Tuesday the
names of nine top poker pros who are eligible for induction this year.
A panel of 15 current Poker Hall of Fame members and 15 media members
are to cast votes to determine which two finalists out of the nine
candidates will be inducted this year.

Tired of waiting for the Federal government of the United States to
legalize online poker nationwide, some poker afficianados in the State
of Massachusetts have been attempting to at least get it legalized in
that state.
One problem: state legislators in Massachusetts appear no more eager to
legitimize and regulate online poker than their counterparts at the
national level do.
