Online Charity Tournament is Tonight

Written by Tom Somach in Poker News

Not all charity poker tournaments are offline.

Online poker room Poker Stars (www.pokerstars.com) announced it will hold an online charity poker tournament on the evening of Saturday, September 12, 2009, for cancer-stricken poker player Kent Senter.

The event is to get underway at 8 p.m. Eastern Time in the USA.

The charity event will be a no-limit Texas hold ‘em tournament.

It will have an entry fee or buy-in of $10. Rebuys of $10 will be available.

All proceeds from the tourney will go to Senter, who has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer.

The illness is terminal and he has been given just months to live.

Earlier this year, Poker Stars paid all expenses for Senter, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, to enter the Main Event at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, where he lasted for two days before getting knocked out of the competition.

According to a Poker Stars spokesman, Senter has been bankrupted by his medical bills and faces eviction from his residence.
