A poker-playing priest has won $100,000 playing poker on a TV show–and he plans to donate all his winnings to his church!

According to media reports, Father Andrew Trapp, the assistant pastor at St. Michael Catholic Church in Garden City Beach, South Carolina, USA, won the $100,000 on a poker television show called “Million Dollar Challenge” on the FOX network. (more…)

Watt Wins New Zealand Event

Simon Watt has won the Main Event at the Asia Pacific Poker Tour’s Auckland stop.

The Main Event, a no-limit Texas hold ‘em tournament with a buy-in of 3,000 New Zealand dollars (NZD), or about $2,300 U.S., had 263 entrants and took place at the Sky City Casino in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. (more…)

Party Poker Hires Racer

Online poker room Party Poker has hired Italian professional race car driver Giancarlo Fisichella as a paid flack for its Italian-language website, www.partypoker.it.

American Barry Shulman, publisher, owner and chief executive officer of Card Player magazine, Friday in London, England, won Event #4 at the third annual WSOPE, the Main Event, a no-limit Texas hold ‘em tournament with with a buy-in of 10,000 British pounds (about $16,000 U.S.). (more…)
