The 2009 European Championship of Online Poker (ECOOP) is underway.

Sponsored by several online poker rooms, the fifth annual ECOOP is a massive online poker tournament open to the public that runs from November 23, 2009, through December 6, 2009.

ECOOP consists of 14 separate events of various types and buy-ins, including no-limit Texas hold ‘em, Omaha and seven-card stud, with buy-ins or entry fees ranging from $100 to $1,500.

The 14 events have a total prize pool of almost $5 million.

ECOOP Event #14, also called the ECOOP Main Event, is a no-limit Texas hold ‘em tournament with a buy-in of $1,500.

The Main Event will consist of the first 1,000 people to enter, giving the tourney a $1.5 million prize pool by itself.

The Main Event is to be held on December 6.

The winner of the Main Event will be considered the winner of the ECOOP.
