Poker Rooms Signs Rodman
Written by Tom Somach in Poker NewsOnline poker room Only Poker (www.onlypoker.com) has signed basketball bad boy Dennis “The Worm” Rodman as a paid spokesman.
Rodman, 48, played for five National Basketball Association (NBA) teams in a long career and won five NBA championships.
He played for the Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers, and won two titles with Detroit and three with Chicago.
He’s also a two-time NBA All-Star who led the league in rebounding seven times.
His poker credentials?
They’re thin, but, hey, he’s a celebrity, and that’s all that matters these days.
He once appeared on a television show called “Celebrity Poker Showdown” on the Bravo network on cable TV in the USA.
On the show, he defeated several other celebs in heads-up, no-limit Texas hold ‘em play and made it to the final round of the competition, where he lost to actress Mekki Phifer.
The home page of Only Poker displays a photo of Rodman, wearing a baseball cap with an Only Poker logo.
The accompany text reads: “The bad boy is back, Dennis Rodman, 5-Time NBA champion, Team OnlyPoker.com member.”
Rodman has had a controversial career, both on and off the court.
He’s had numerous arrests, a stint in rehab and a father who fathered 24 children.
A native of Trenton, New Jersey, USA, he also dated Madonna, was married to Carmen Electra and while with the Bulls dyed his hair to rainbow-colored.
Now to that storied career, add online poker room flack.
