Question Hand options.

Hi folks:
Pretty new to Poker and trying to get a better understanding on how to play certain hands in certain situations. This particular hand is from a MTT 1,000 players. Final table of 8
I was in tenth place and low stack when this hand came up:

Should I have just shoved all in preflop, see the flop like I did, fold on the flop, or shove with the open ended str8 like I did.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It’s quite impressive, as a new poker player, you have shown a good interest in trying to play with good strategies. Wish you luck to become a good player.

I think it's better to push all in pre flop with your 77 because you're only 12 BB and you want to take the blind or fight against only 1 or 2 players.

You seem to be intelligent with pretty good strategies. I disagree with Sun though, push all in in pre-flop is a very rookie move.
