Poker Bust in Colorado

Written by Tom Somach in Poker News

Officials in the U.S. continue to crack down on illegal poker playing throughout the country, with the latest bust occurring in the State of Colorado.

Law enforcement authorities announced Monday in Fort Collins, Colo., that three people have been arrested for running an illegal high-stakes poker game in which the house received a percentage of the money wagered.

The poker game was run out of a Fort Collins store called Front Range Poker Supply that sold poker chips, playing cards and other poker paraphernalia, authorities said.

Arrested on gambling charges were Dustin Santino, 28, of Greeley, Colo., who is the owner of the poker supply store, and Troy Vernon, 33, and Michael Trujillo, 23, both of Fort Collins, authorities said.

Santino was also charged with a weapon violation, they said.

In addition, 16 other people who were playing poker at the store were issued summonses for unlawfully engaging in gambling, authorities said.

The bust of the poker game was the climax of a four-month investigation, they said.

The probe and raid were a joint effort by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Impact Unit, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado Division of Gaming, authorities said.

With the popularity of poker rising nationwide, U.S. law enforcement authorities across the country continue their crackdown on illegal poker games.

In recent weeks and months, authorities have busted illegal poker games in Texas, New York, North Carolina, Indiana, Colorado and elsewhere.
