Being a member of the Microgaming/Prima Poker network, Poker Time is a website that players familiar with Prima can feel relatively confident in.  Prima Poker websites tend to be very similar in aesthetics, so even before reading a review for it players should have a decent idea of what they’re going to get from the website.  Traffic to games (especially games with no limit betting structures) is going to be high and games will be average to below average in softness.  Some interesting highlights of the Poker Time website are that only one currency (USD) is supported and that the website offers 24/7 customer service.  Additionally, this Poker Time offers some interesting bonus and loyalty structures, which will be explained in the subsequent sections.

Poker Games Available

The poker games available at Poker Time are comparable to the ones available at other network websites.  While they can configure which tables to offer, the traffic is going to be Prima network traffic, which means that a lot of the statistics will be similar between Poker Time and other Prima sites.  For limit hold ‘em they offer games from $0.05/$0.10 to $150/$300, with the highest populated limit usually being in the $5/$10 range.  No limit hold ‘em is a bit more interesting.  While Poker Time has categories in their lobby for no limit games all the way up to $200/$400, there were no tables at that limit and the limit immediately below when checked.  The highest populated game was in the $20/$40 range.  In addition, Poker Time offers the following poker variants: Omaha, Omaha/8, 5 card draw, 7 card stud and 5 card stud.  One other interesting point to note is that Poker Time offers no limit stud games, something that is not common amongst a lot of poker websites.

For tournaments, Poker Time is very similar to many other Prima sites again.  While they lack the micro $0.10 tournaments of many other Prima network partners, they do offer sit and go tournaments with buy-ins as little as one dollar.  In addition they also offer freeroll multi-table tournaments as well as ones with four figure buy-ins for the high rolling players.

A unique part of the Poker Time software is the additional prompt players receive upon installing it.  They have an additional piece of software (a messaging toolbar) that they prompt players to install, primarily as a means of allowing them to directly communicate with players.  Installation of the toolbar is optional and there is no difference between installing and not installing the toolbar vis-à-vis the overall look, feel and performance of the Poker Time software.

The overall software design is typical Prima, right down to the unique dropdown menus that players can use at the lobby screen to search for their favourite poker game.  The sound effects are somewhat annoying, but the software gives you the option to turn them off.  Another neat little trick of the software is the ability to find your Prima alias (if you have one) and automatically assign it to you.  It makes the whole process of signing up more convenient, as players that play at multiple Prima Poker websites do not have to manually input their alias more than once.

The table offers a 2-dimensional direct overhead perspective and the Poker Time colour scheme works very well together, more so than most other Prima websites.  There is also the ability to shift back and forth between two tables at the touch of a button, although the elongated table window (due to a large chat column to the right of the table) can get in the way of convenient multi-table play.  Another drawback of the software is that statistics tracking only appears to be available for games with a board (i.e. Hold ‘em and Omaha), with games like 7 card stud not supporting the viewing of session statistics.

Poker Time offers a 100% match bonus, up to a maximum of $200.  Since the bonus is a match bonus, it does require a qualifying deposit, which in the case of Poker Time is any initial deposit greater than $20.  The bonus is good for up to 90 days from the date of deposit and is released in one lump sum upon the collection of 7 poker points for every $1 of bonus money (poker points are explained in the next section).  Players that do not fulfil these guidelines within the 90 day period will not receive any bonus amount.

Loyalty Programs

The loyalty program at Poker Time is called the Poker Players Club and the base unit of currency is the poker point.  Poker points are earned in cash games for playing in raked hands and are earned at a rate of anywhere from 0.05 to 2.0 points per hand depending on the betting structure and the limit that the raked hand takes place at.  Additionally, players earn 2.5 poker points for every $1 they spend in tournament fees.

Players can spend their poker points to gain entry into the guaranteed prize pool tournaments run by Poker Time.  Tournaments where the buy-in can be paid in poker points will have that fact clearly marked in the tournament information window.

Poker Time offers three main avenues of support: FAQs, e-mail support and phone support.

Players with quick questions regarding something simple on the site should consult one of the many FAQs available, as many simple questions have already been answered in one of the FAQ documents.

Players whose concerns have not been answered by any of the FAQs should either contact Poker Time by e-mail or by telephone.  Telephone service (as well as the number to call) varies from country to country and is only available toll free to players calling from the following countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Portugal, Italy, France, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore.
